Being A Champion
Ultramarathon Man Dean Karnazes is an internationally recognised endurance athlete. He has pushed his body and mind to inconceivable limits. In his biography Dean tells his story and I highly recommend everyone read it for inspiration. It is full of exploits, drama and great lessons that Dean calls an “exploration of the possibilities of self”.
In his book he recounts his races and other unbelievable achievements. He introduces us to the sometimes bizarre emotional and psychological make-up of endurance runners. This book is filled with fascinating characters and situations from touching to the absurd.
Dean explains that Ultra-marathon running is primarily about one thing: not giving up. It really doesn’t matter how long it takes to get the job done; what matters is getting it done.
This man’s story will amaze, fascinate and inspire you. A 200 mile twelve person relay across Death Valley – which he ran solo, and the challenges of running the first ever marathon to the South Pole.
Being successful – being a champion means not quitting, no matter how tough the situation becomes, and no matter how badly the odds seem stacked against you it becomes imperative to believe in your ability to keep going.
If you have the courage, stamina and persistence to cross the finish line, you are a champion.
